"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting

a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!"

Yeah, I stop by there occasionally... How many democratic super delegates are there? 842? Or something like that?
Which means only about half of them have been pledged so far.
Even if Obama and Hillary run neck and neck all the way to the convention, I just don't think Clinton will win such a huge majority that it'll turn the tide of the nomination.
Right now, she's just running for distance, and trying to earn a nod for the VP position.
Personally, I think Obama would be crazy to do so... because then he's picking up and offering to carry the baggage Hillary brings to the table with independents, and the loathing of conservatives.
I don't know a single conservative who actually dislikes Obama. They may not like his political platform, but they have no qualms with the man himself. But I can rattle off about eleventy-thousand that spit bile at the very sight of Hillary... and that's a huge deal. That's the "well, I don't really like *my* candidate, but by golly, I'll vota against his opponent!"
Now, you can't bank on the anti-vote and expect it to carry you to the finish line (see Kerry, John Forbes), even against an unpopular candidate up to his eyeballs in unpopular issues (see Bush, George W.) But it would be foolish to discount the impact it can have on an election.
And that's still baggage that Obama isn't carrying right now, and I think he'd be wise to find a way to diplomatically "let her down easy", to avoid the appearance of a very public, very embarassing snub that might cause some disgruntled Hillary supporters to stay home in November.
Thoughts?
