The McCain-Lobbyist Connection

Not only does the McCain campaign have more current and former lobbyist bundlers than any other candidate, but McCain has more current and former lobbyists working on his campaign staff than any other candidate in the 2008 presidential election. Media Matters for America has previously catalogued the extensive number of lobbyists and their deep connections to industries, such as the communication and financial industries, which McCain oversaw as chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee.

As the graphic (on the page here) illustrates, McCain's presidential campaign is chock full of former and current lobbyists. Point your mouse at one of the campaign staffers surrounding McCain to see who they have lobbied for.

Not being too too surprised, here's a little analysis blown into scare tactics with a little of my traditional, conspiracy theory, trailer park sense of humor.

National Finance Committee Co-Chairs represent Lockheed (US!), Airbus(French?) and... what's that? Honda AND Toyota (for shame!)?.

James Rill, there's you're tobacco. Smokeless indeed!

John Green and John Timmons and Christian Ferry are robots. Verizon, AT&T, Bellsouth. Oh, there's your Delta, your Southeast, your USAir... There's a third Airbus, Kirk Blaloc, you French rapscalion, you.

Robert Aiker? You're an untitled advisor just like Timmons and Green, right? You don't sound like a robot. You're a Bob, and I bet you make robots out in the shed. Just what exactly does the Pinnacle West Capitol Group do?

Ok, on the inside, why, is that Citigroup and freakin' Airbus again? Oh yeah, you have the same chair as all those other Airbus guys. Is the National Finance Committee chaired 1-Lockheed Martin to 3-Airbus with a kid sidekick?

David Crane, the son of Niles Crane and Daphne Moon on the TV sitcom Frasier, bold choice for Senior Policy Advisor. His connections to old government and primary finance are quite apparent. Who knew that Daphne would raise him conservative. She seemed so much more labor.

Dick Davis, COMSAT, HA! He's the one giving orders to the "advisors". Robot army, I tells ya!!! He answers only to one man, Charles Black, scourge of the seven seas.

Charles Black (born 1928 Lewisham, London) produced counterfeit British and U.S. currency together with traveller's cheques for a number of years before being arrested. He played for the Indianapolis Jets (1948-49), Fort Wayne Pistons (1949-50), Anderson Packers (1949-50) and Milwaukee Hawks (1950-51) in the NBA for 136 games.

Following, he made connections to telecommunications, finance, and the oil industry by way of General Motors.

OK, here's a bit of reality. Charles Black is also (previously?) associated with the United Technologies Corporation. They make escalators and elevators. Some building systems, some aircraft parts. Little bit of missile systems and military helicopters, most notably the Black Hawk Helicopter. In 2005, it received over 5 billion dollars in military contracts. Oh, here's an interesting one, in March 2008 UTC announced it had made a $2.63 billion bid to acquire Diebold, a Canton, Ohio based manufacturer of banking and voting machines. And how about BKSH of which you are a chair. http://www.sourcewatch.org/wiki.phtml?title=BKSH_%26_Associates
At least their subsidiary, Hamilton Sundstrand, produces spacecraft parts.

Oh, and Dick Davis, I didn't miss Davis, Manafort & Freedman, Inc. How about those big, juicy mergers you oversaw while the FCC allowed tv to consolidate into the mess of giants we're stuck with. Lobbied for any Russian, gambling fugitives lately?

Dick Davis, robot armies, tv programming, head for the hills.
